GOOD HOPE FARM AND GUEST COTTAGES INFORMATION
Please read through this document fully. There is important information within this document that is pertinent to your enjoying your stay with us.
Use of facilities is at your own risk. All children must be under adult supervision at all times. Children may not be allowed in or around the swimming pools or on hiking trails or at the dam using the kayaks and canoes without a parent present.
- Please note we do not supply bath or pool towels.
- We use mountain water as well as borehole water on the farm and in the cottages. Please bring bottled water for drinking.
- We are a working farm. We have sheep which roam the premises during the day as well as a number of other animals that free range on the property. There are rams within the flock of sheep. Do not walk through the middle of the flock. Please do not approach any of the farm animals. Climbing in the paddocks are strictly prohibited.
- We also farm bees. Please be aware that at some times of the year bees do swarm or make hives in the chimneys or cottage roofs. However, we shall endeavour to resolve their removal to the best of our ability. If you are allergic, please ensure you travel with any medications needed in the event of getting stung.
- We have 3 hiking trails on the farm. If you would like to hike, please speak with management so we can assist with supplying someone to show you the routes. Our staff are available for your assistance but are not professional guides.
- We do have snakes on the farm. Most of them are venomous. Please keep your doors to your cottages closed at all times and keep to the roads and trails when walking and exploring the property.
- We are pet friendly, by prior arrangement with management. Pets may not be allowed to chase or harm the animals. Most of our animals free range on the farm so if you are unsure of how your dog may react when seeing them, please keep them on a lead. Any injuries or death as a result of your pet will come with a replacement cost at your expense for the replacement value of the animals. Management cannot be held responsible for any injury to your pet if they are not kept on a lead and chase and bark the animals.
- Please do not leave food on the ground in containers or out on the tables at night. Our pigs are, unfortunately, very smart and well aware that food arrives with our guests. They are very creative at figuring out how to get in to new places, up kitchen steps and knocking over containers to enjoy what is inside.
- We do not supply braai grids at the cottages. We do stock the cottages with dishwashing liquid, sponges, wash cloths, drying cloths as well as toilet paper and soap. Please note, we are a self-catering facility, so we do not supply coffee, tea, sugar and milk.
- Check in time is from 2pm on your date of arrival and 10am on your date of departure unless otherwise agreed with management. Please note these times are non-negotiable over peak periods such as the festive season.
- Reception hours are from 8am to 6pm.
- It is our recommendation, to ensure adequate stock, that wood and ice is ordered prior to arrival. Should you require additional stock, please ensure orders are placed by noon each day.
- We are in a high risk fire zone. Please never leave your braai/fire unattended and always ensure your coals are properly extinguished before vacating the area. The wind can pick up unexpectedly at all hours of the day.
- Please ensure you bring torches for the evenings when walking to and from your cottages, especially in the event of loadshedding.
- Please note, unless you book out all the cottages (eg. All 5 dam cottages or all 4 mountain cottages), you may have to share the space with other guests. We kindly request you do not play music unless the other guests are in agreement and that it not be played before 10am or after 10pm at night, with the permission of all other guests. Should you wish to have the freedom to play music throughout the weekend, we strongly recommend you book out all the cottages.
